Be an intensive three-day journey of engagement and encounter:

Spiral Model of Community Facilitation
Friday 11th of March 2022
This 1-day process will enable you to understand, design and practice using The Spiral Model, a well-tested and tried model of community facilitation grounded in Paulo Freire's thinking.
The Spiral Model of Community Education is an approach developed by community development practitioners that helps groups do thinking that 'spirals' from personal experience to action. It's a 'bottom up' process that enables people to tell their stories, to name issues, and with others do some thinking about why those issues are impacting on communities. Based on that collective thinking, groups form around strategies for action, they take action and then return to the bigger group to reflect on that action.

A 24 Hour Poetic Retreat #2 - Towards Observation and Delicate Activism
Friday 18th and Saturday 19th of March 2022
As a response to a disconnected and manic world, this reflective process explores the world of delicate activism (see Kaplan & Davidoff, 2014, The Proteus Initiative) and is grounded in the question, 'Can a practice that foregrounds observation bring healing to the world?
'Through the practice of observation, reflection and connection with nature, the process invites an opportunity to practice a new form of activism in our personal and professional lives. In witnessing nature, we will write about our observations and interpretations through creative expression as a method of delicate activism.

Method and Analysis in Participatory Community Development
Thursday 28th and Friday 29th of April 2022
This 2-day process will introduce practitioners to the ‘method framework’ of implicate, micro, mezzo, macro and meta-levels of development practices (see Kelly & Westoby, Participatory Development Practice, Practical Action Press, 2018). It's a true and tried methodology and participants will finish the process with a clear 'method framework' for their community development thinking and practice. Community Praxis Co-op has run this process many many times all over Queensland and other parts of the world.
